Folk of An-Havva

Folk of An-Havva was released in 1995 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Homelands. This set was conceived as a top-down design focused on the lore and geography of the plane of Ulgrotha, a horror-themed setting. The card represents the resilient, isolated inhabitants of the An-Havva township, which was designed to reflect the set's central themes of survival against monstrous forces and the protective, almost insular nature of the plane's remaining human settlements.

The artwork for this specific version was provided by artist Susan Van Camp, whose contributions to the era are noted for their distinct, hand-painted aesthetic. Van Camp’s illustration sought to capture the grit and rustic quality of the An-Havva people, placing them in the dense, gothic forests that defined the set’s visual identity. While Homelands was initially met with a mixed reception due to its perceived lower power level compared to preceding sets, it has since become a point of interest for collectors focusing on mid-90s game history and thematic world-building.
