Foot Soldiers

Foot Soldiers was first printed in the Ninth Edition core set of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, released in 2005. As a core set, Ninth Edition served as a bridge for players, featuring a mix of reprints from across the game's history alongside updated card frames that established a new visual standard for the brand. This specific printing features art by Christopher Rush, an iconic illustrator who contributed extensively to the game’s aesthetic during its formative years.

The card depicts a standard white-aligned creature, typical of the tactical military units often found in the early iterations of the game. Christopher Rush's design aimed to convey the uniformity and collective identity of a generic infantry squad, utilizing a grounded, illustrative style that was characteristic of mid-2000s card design. Upon release, the card was received as a functional, low-rarity common intended primarily for limited play environments like Draft or Sealed deck tournaments.
