Where it came from
Forced Fruition is a card featured in the Enchanting Tales bonus sheet of the 2023 Magic: The Gathering expansion, Wilds of Eldraine. Originally appearing in the 2007 Lorwyn set, the card was designed to represent the concept of forced knowledge or over-abundance, fitting the whimsical yet treacherous themes of the Eldraine plane. Its inclusion in this special set was intended to provide players with a reprint of a potent, high-mana enchantment that encourages chaotic gameplay dynamics.
The artwork for this specific version was rendered by artist Jason A. Engle. His design for the Enchanting Tales iteration emphasizes the ethereal and folklore-inspired aesthetic of the set, utilizing the distinct frame design that mimics the appearance of storybook illustrations. Upon its release, it was well-received by players who enjoy Commander formats, where the card is prized for its ability to drastically accelerate the pace of the game by forcing opponents to draw significant portions of their deck.
