Where it came from
Land Tax was originally introduced in the 1994 Legends set as a powerful enchantment designed to provide white-aligned decks with a consistent source of card advantage by searching the library for Plains. Its inclusion in the Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales subset represents a thematic reimagining of iconic enchantments through the fairy-tale aesthetic of the Eldraine plane, marking it as a visually distinct collector's piece.
The artwork for this specific printing was created by Justine Jones, who utilized the signature 'Enchanting Tales' storybook illustration style to breathe new life into the classic design. By framing the card within the whimsical and slightly dark motifs of Eldraine, the design team aimed to bridge the gap between competitive utility and artistic prestige, ultimately receiving a warm reception from collectors who value both the card's historical gameplay impact and its modernized, folklore-inspired visual presentation.
