Fusion Elemental

Fusion Elemental was introduced in the 2009 Magic: The Gathering expansion set Conflux, which served as the middle chapter of the Alara block. The set focused heavily on the concept of 'conflux,' a multiversal event where the five previously separated shards of a world merged back into one, allowing for the mechanical theme of five-color synergy. As an uncommon creature, the card was designed to demonstrate the power of bringing all five colors of mana together in a single strategy.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Michael Komarck, who utilized his signature digital painting style to depict the creature as a swirling, volatile amalgamation of elemental forces. The design emphasizes the card's identity as a 'child of all colors,' featuring distinct elemental textures representing fire, water, earth, air, and light. Upon its release, it was regarded as a quintessential centerpiece for limited play formats, prized by players for its sheer size and the flavorful challenge of assembling the necessary mana to cast it.
