Galazeth Prismari was introduced as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages set released in 2021, representing the blue-red college of the same name within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The Art Series cards, which include the 58s collector number variant, were created to showcase the individual illustrations from the set in a larger, borderless format, allowing players and collectors to appreciate the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Prismari mages, who channel their elemental magic through creative expression and performance.

The artwork for Galazeth Prismari was created by artist Johannes Voss, who sought to capture the essence of a dragon embodying the chaos and brilliance of the Prismari aesthetic. Voss utilized vibrant, sweeping brushstrokes and a palette of electric blues and fiery oranges to illustrate the creature in a moment of spellcasting. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the player base for its distinctive visual style, which successfully bridged the gap between the game's rigid mechanical functions and its rich, atmospheric world-building.
