Galepowder Mage

Galepowder Mage was first released in 2008 as part of the Scars of Mirrodin expansion, later appearing in the 2012 Duel Decks: Venser vs. Koth product. This product was designed to highlight the clash between the planeswalker Venser, a master of teleportation and blinking effects, and Koth of the Hammer, a geomancer associated with the red mana of the Mirrodin resistance. The card itself exemplifies the blink mechanic, allowing players to flicker creatures in and out of play to trigger enters-the-battlefield abilities.

The card was illustrated by Volkan Baga, whose work frequently features in Magic: The Gathering for its distinct sense of scale and atmospheric lighting.
