Vulshok Battlegear

Vulshok Battlegear was first introduced in the Mirrodin expansion, representing the brutal, scavenged aesthetic of the Vulshok tribes on the artificial world of Mirrodin. In the context of the Duel Decks: Venser vs. Koth release, the card was reprinted to emphasize Koth of the Hammer's connection to the red-aligned factions of his home plane. The equipment reflects the industrial and resource-scarce nature of the setting, where metallic scraps are repurposed into functional tools of war.

The artwork for this particular iteration was handled by illustrator D. Alexander Gregory, who sought to capture the heavy, utilitarian feel of red mana-aligned weaponry. The design emphasizes the cumbersome yet powerful nature of the gear, fitting the mechanical theme of the artifact. Upon its inclusion in the Duel Decks series, the card was well-received by players for its ability to provide a significant power boost to creatures, serving as a staple equipment piece in aggressive red strategies.
