Gift of Estates

Gift of Estates was originally printed as a rare card in the 2004 Saviors of Kamigawa expansion, marking its introduction into the Magic: The Gathering card pool. The card reflects the set's central 'hand size' theme, where players are encouraged to maintain specific hand sizes to trigger various mechanical effects. In the context of Kamigawa's lore, the card represents the spiritual and ancestral traditions of the plane, designed to provide players with land-based consistency in white decks by searching for plains.

The art for this printing was provided by artist Darrell Riche, whose illustration depicts an ethereal, serene landscape fitting the spiritual aesthetic of the Kamigawa block. When the card was reprinted in the 2005 Ninth Edition core set, it moved to an uncommon rarity, making it more accessible for standard play environments. The design was received as a functional utility tool, prized by players for its ability to thin the deck and ensure steady land drops during the early to mid-game stages of a match.
