Gloomshrieker // Gloomshrieker

Gloomshrieker, originating from the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set, was released in early 2022 as part of the Art Series sub-set. This specific card belongs to a collection of oversized, non-legal art cards designed to showcase the vivid, cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic that defines this iteration of the Kamigawa plane. These cards were produced to highlight the integration of traditional Japanese folklore with futuristic technology, serving as a premium collectible for players and art enthusiasts who admire the visual evolution of the Magic: The Gathering universe.

The illustration for Gloomshrieker was created by artist Yongjae Choi, who focused on capturing the card's nature-aligned, haunting spirit within the high-tech, neon-drenched backdrop of Neon Dynasty. By blending the organic, decayed textures of the creature with the sharp, digital glow characteristic of the set, the design emphasizes the central theme of the plane: the tension between ancient tradition and modern innovation. The art series was received as a bridge between the functional gaming components and the purely aesthetic, highly detailed world-building fostered by Wizards of the Coast.
