Goblin Cannon

Goblin Cannon was released in 2004 as part of the Fifth Dawn expansion, the final set in the Mirrodin block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to explore the mechanics of artifact interaction, focusing on the synergy between different permanent types and the resource management inherent in the game's metal-themed setting. As an uncommon artifact, it was conceptualized as a thematic piece that rewarded players for generating significant amounts of mana to fuel its destructive, albeit inefficient, activated ability.

The artwork for the card was created by Doug Chaffee, who rendered the contraption in a gritty, industrial style that aligned with the overarching aesthetic of the Mirrodin plane.
