Goldwardens' Gambit // Goldwardens' Gambit

Goldwardens' Gambit is a double-faced card illustration from the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Art Series, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. These cards are distributed as art prints in collector boosters, designed to showcase the intricate, often biomechanical aesthetic of the Phyrexians as they finalize their invasion of the multiverse. The series serves as a companion piece to the core set, stripping away the mechanical frame to allow the audience to appreciate the atmospheric world-building and character design that define the horror-themed expansion.

The artwork, created by illustrator Campbell White, captures the distinct fusion of flesh and machinery that characterizes the plane of New Phyrexia. By isolating the image from the standard card frame, the design emphasizes the visual storytelling inherent in the setting, favoring a polished, cinematic presentation. The piece was well-received by fans of the franchise for its thematic cohesion and its ability to elevate the aesthetic quality of the collection beyond purely functional gameplay assets.
