Black Sun's Twilight // Black Sun's Twilight

Black Sun's Twilight is a card from the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Art Series, a specialized subset released in early 2023. These cards function as oversized, borderless display pieces that showcase the artwork of the core set without the game-related text, allowing collectors to focus entirely on the aesthetic contributions of the illustrators. This specific entry is part of a deliberate push by Wizards of the Coast to highlight the high-fantasy, biomechanical horror themes central to the plane of New Phyrexia.

The artwork for this piece was crafted by Campbell White, who utilized a stark, high-contrast palette to evoke the dark, corrupting nature of the Phyrexians. By focusing on the interplay between deep shadows and glowing, toxic energies, White captured the oppressive atmosphere of the set’s setting. The series was well-received by collectors who prioritize the illustrative heritage of Magic: The Gathering, viewing these prints as a way to elevate the card game into the realm of traditional art prints.
