Grim Backwoods

Grim Backwoods was originally introduced in the Magic: The Gathering expansion Dark Ascension in 2012, designed to provide players with a repeatable card advantage engine within the Golgari color identity. The card is a utility land that allows players to sacrifice a creature to draw a card, representing the flavor of scavenging through a decaying, haunted landscape for resources. It has since been reprinted in various supplemental products, including the Duskmourn: House of Horror Commander set, to ensure accessibility for players building decks around graveyard-focused strategies.

The artwork for the Duskmourn version was illustrated by Vincent Proce, an artist known for his dark and visceral contributions to the game's aesthetic.
