Grixis Panorama

Grixis Panorama was released in 2008 as part of the Shards of Alara expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As a cycle of land cards designed to fix mana for players using three-color decks, the five Panoramas represent the five distinct shards of the plane of Alara. The Grixis Panorama specifically depicts the necrotic, death-filled landscape of Grixis, reflecting the set's thematic focus on the color black and the absence of green and white mana in that specific region.

The artwork was created by illustrator Nils Hamm, whose distinctive, moody style was selected to capture the desolation of the Grixis shard. Hamm utilized a dark, atmospheric palette to emphasize the decaying nature of the environment, successfully distinguishing this card visually from its counterparts in the cycle. Upon its release, the card was widely used in casual and limited play environments as an efficient, low-cost utility tool for color fixing in multicolor deck strategies.
