Provenance

Where it came from

The Grixis Panorama was released in 2008 as part of the Shards of Alara expansion for Magic: The Gathering. It belongs to a cycle of five 'Panorama' lands, each representing one of the plane's distinct shards, designed to facilitate color fixing for multicolored decks by allowing players to sacrifice them to search for basic lands that match the shard's colors.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Terese Nielsen, who was tasked with capturing the bleak, necrotic essence of Grixis. The design emphasizes the shard's characteristic atmosphere of death and decay, utilizing a muted palette and visceral imagery that aligns with the set's broader theme of fractured, unstable worlds vying for dominance.
