Guttersnipe

Guttersnipe is a quintessential red creature card first introduced in the Return to Ravnica expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a common, it quickly became a staple for players who focus on 'spellslinger' strategies, where the goal is to cast a high volume of instant and sorcery spells to trigger its ability. The card's design intentionally creates a direct reward for the player’s activity on the board, dealing two damage to each opponent whenever they cast a non-creature spell.

The version from Foundations Jumpstart carries forward the long-standing identity of this character within the game's lore and mechanics. The original illustration was crafted to evoke the chaotic, opportunistic nature of Ravnica's denizens, specifically those living in the city's depths. Its enduring popularity stems from its efficiency and the satisfying gameplay loop it provides, leading to its repeated inclusion in supplemental sets like Foundations Jumpstart to ensure newer players have access to such a fundamental archetype piece.
