Heart Sliver

Heart Sliver was originally introduced in the 1997 Tempest expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed to introduce the sliver creature type—a hive-mind species that shares abilities across the battlefield. This particular iteration features artwork by Greg Staples, who contributed to the game during a period where sliver designs moved toward a more biomechanical and insectoid aesthetic to emphasize their evolution. The Premium Deck Series: Slivers, released in 2010, was a curated anthology set intended to provide players with a cohesive, ready-to-play deck showcasing the evolution of the species throughout Magic's history.

The 2010 reprint features a unique premium foil treatment exclusive to this deck series, distinguishing it from the original matte printings. As part of the Premium Deck Series, the card was received as a nostalgic retrospective for long-term players, allowing them to acquire updated, shiny versions of cards that had become staples of tribal deck building. The design focus was on consistency and synergy, ensuring that players could effectively utilize the 'haste' granting ability inherent to Heart Sliver to overwhelm opponents in the context of the set's high-speed gameplay mechanics.
