Where it came from
Helm of the Host was originally introduced in the 2018 Dominaria set, designed to represent a powerful piece of legendary equipment that allows its wearer to create non-legendary token copies of equipped creatures. The design team focused on creating a high-cost, high-reward artifact that could bypass the unique restrictions placed on legendary creatures, effectively turning a single powerful unit into a growing army.
The version included in The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts set features a special schematic-style frame. This stylistic choice pays homage to the lore of the set, which focuses on the ancient artifice and industrial conflict between the brothers Urza and Mishra. This specific printing was well-received by collectors for its clean, technical aesthetic that contrasts sharply with standard card frames, emphasizing the artifact's role as a constructed piece of machinery.
