Herigast, Erupting Nullkite // Herigast, Erupting Nullkite

Herigast, Erupting Nullkite was introduced as part of the Modern Horizons 3 Art Series, a collection of cards released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. These cards are designed as dedicated showcase pieces for collectors, featuring the high-fidelity artwork of individual Magic: The Gathering cards without the traditional game text overlay. They serve to highlight the creative effort behind the game’s expansion sets, providing a gallery-style presentation of the card's visual identity.

The artwork for this specific card was commissioned by the set’s creative team to depict the Eldrazi entity Herigast. The design focuses on the chaotic and ethereal nature of the creature, utilizing a distinct color palette and intricate linework meant to evoke a sense of cosmic disturbance. Like other cards in the Art Series, this piece was intended to bridge the gap between functional trading cards and collectible fine art, receiving positive feedback from fans of the game's evolving aesthetic and lore-driven world-building.
