What it does

Whenever a player draws their second card each turn, any of their opponents may say "DRAW!". The first opponent to do so clashes with that player. The player that wins the clash creates two 1/1 black Assassin creature tokens. (Each clashing player reveals the top card of their library, then puts that card on the top or bottom. A player wins if their card had a higher mana value.)

Whenever Chaos ensues, draw a card.

Provenance

Where it came from

High Noon at Thunder Junction was released as part of the specialized Planechase cards associated with the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Outlaws of Thunder Junction, which debuted in 2024. This plane card represents a thematic intersection of the game's high-fantasy multiverse and the classic western aesthetic, functioning as an environment-shifting mechanic that adds strategic unpredictability to matches.

The card’s illustration was crafted to evoke the tension of a quintessential western duel, utilizing cinematic lighting and wide-angle perspectives to emphasize the vast, arid scale of the Thunder Junction plane. It was designed to enhance the 'Planechase' format by introducing chaotic, lawless rules that favor players willing to lean into the set’s outlaw-themed gameplay, ultimately receiving praise from players for successfully merging genre tropes with established mechanics.
