Where it came from
Immard, the Stormcleaver, is a card released as part of the Secret Lair Drop series for Magic: The Gathering. This line was introduced by Wizards of the Coast as a platform for limited-run, highly stylized, and often thematic card reprints or alternate-art variants, designed to appeal directly to collectors and players who appreciate unique aesthetic interpretations of the game's iconic characters and mechanics.
The art for this specific iteration of the card reflects the distinct, high-contrast, and experimental visual direction often pursued in Secret Lair releases to differentiate them from standard set cards. By collaborating with various illustrators, Wizards of the Coast intends to create a niche collectible space where the card acts more as a standalone art piece than just a functional game component, a strategy that has been received with significant interest within the hobbyist community.
