What it does
Eminence — Whenever another nontoken Wizard you control enters, if Inalla is in the command zone or on the battlefield, you may pay 1 generic mana. If you do, create a token that's a copy of that Wizard. The token gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.
Tap five untapped Wizards you control: Target player loses 7 life.

Where it came from
Inalla, Archmage Ritualist was introduced in 2017 as the face commander of the 'Arcane Wizardry' deck, one of four preconstructed decks released for the Commander 2017 expansion. This set was notable for focusing on tribal synergies, marking a shift toward more specialized, mechanically dense themes within the Commander format. As a Grixis-aligned Wizard, Inalla was designed to leverage the creature-heavy nature of the format by allowing players to create temporary, hasted copies of Wizards as they enter the battlefield, providing a powerful engine for enter-the-battlefield effects.
The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, whose work is characterized by a fluid, ethereal quality that emphasizes the magical essence of the character. Voss intended for the art to convey Inalla's mastery over time and illusion, reflecting her lore as a member of the Grixis-based Sedraxis. Upon release, the card received significant attention from the Magic: The Gathering community for its complexity and the non-deterministic nature of its 'eminence' ability, which functions even while the card remains in the command zone, sparking extensive discussion regarding the design space of static command zone abilities.
