Incinerate

Incinerate was first introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the 1996 Mirage expansion, designed to provide red decks with a versatile, efficient damage spell. Its inclusion in Tenth Edition served as a return for the classic card in the 2007 core set, which functioned as a celebration of the game’s first fifteen years. By this point in the game's history, the card had become a hallmark of red-aligned strategy, valued for its ability to deal three damage to any target while simultaneously preventing the opponent from regenerating that creature.

The Tenth Edition illustration was created by the Hungarian artistic duo Zoltan Boros and Gabor Szikszai. Known for their high-fantasy aesthetic and dynamic sense of motion, they depicted the raw, destructive energy of a fire-based spell. Their work aimed to capture the visceral impact of the card’s effect, emphasizing the intensity of the flame. Upon release, this version was widely recognized for its polished, modern digital art style, which updated the classic spell for a new generation of players while maintaining the thematic identity of the original design.
