Where it came from
Inferno of the Star Mounts was released in 2021 as part of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms expansion for Magic: The Gathering, a set that marked the first official crossover between the long-running trading card game and the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop franchise. The card depicts a legendary red dragon from the setting, specifically designed to embody the explosive, treasure-hoarding nature of high-fantasy dragons while functioning as a high-impact finisher in competitive play.
The 151a promo version features alternate artwork by Lucas Graciano, a frequent contributor to the game whose style is known for dynamic lighting and rich textures. By capturing the dragon in an aggressive, soaring pose, Graciano sought to emphasize its mechanical ability to deal direct damage based on the power of the creature. Upon release, the card was well-received by fans of both franchises for its thematic faithfulness and its effectiveness as a top-end threat in red-aligned decks.
