Where it came from
Infestation was released as part of the Alchemy: Lorwyn Eclipsed set, a digital-only expansion for Magic: The Gathering Arena. The design of these cards is deeply rooted in the aesthetic and thematic world-building of the original Lorwyn block, which focused on pastoral folklore, shifting light and shadow, and tribal synergies, while applying new mechanics tailored for the speed and play patterns of digital card games.
The card features artwork that reflects the dark, unsettling transition inherent in the Eclipsed cycle of the set. Like other cards in the Alchemy format, it was developed by the Wizards of the Coast design team to introduce fresh tactical depth to the Arena ecosystem, offering players a way to interact with creature-heavy board states in a manner distinct from traditional tabletop reprints.
