Where it came from
Insatiable Avarice was released in 2024 as part of the Outlaws of Thunder Junction expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed as a high-impact black sorcery, drawing thematic inspiration from the set's western-fantasy aesthetic. It functions as a powerful tool for card advantage, mirroring the lore-driven motifs of greed and high-stakes risk prevalent throughout the Thunder Junction narrative.
The promotional version, designated as collector number 91s, features unique art treatments distinct from the standard set release. These cards were distributed through organized play channels and promotional kits to incentivize participation in local game store events. The design focuses on bold, high-contrast imagery intended to appeal to collectors seeking distinct, visually striking versions of staple gameplay mechanics.
