Insubordination

Insubordination was released in 1999 as part of the Mercadian Masques expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set drew thematic inspiration from exploration and mercantile trade, set on the plane of Mercadia. Mechanically, the card represents the game's focus on creature-based interactions and tactical combat, serving as an enchantment that penalizes the opponent's ability to exert their forces.

The card features illustration by Randy Gallegos, an artist whose work contributed significantly to the aesthetic consistency of the late 1990s sets.
