Into the North

Into the North was released in 2006 as part of the Coldsnap expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This set was uniquely designed as a thematic successor to the 1995 Ice Age block, completing a narrative arc that had remained dormant for over a decade. The card functions as a snow-themed mana ramp spell, specifically designed to reward players for utilizing the reintroduced snow-covered land mechanic, which allowed for interactions that set it apart from standard ramp cards of the era.

The artwork was provided by Richard Sardinha, a prolific illustrator known for his contributions to the game during the mid-2000s. Sardinha employed a moody, atmospheric style to capture the harsh, wintry environment of the setting.
