Intruder Alarm

Intruder Alarm was originally released in the Stronghold expansion in 1998 and was subsequently reprinted in Eighth Edition in 2003. Its inclusion in Eighth Edition marked the transition of the card into the modern core set framework, providing players with a recurring mechanism that untaps all creatures whenever a creature enters the battlefield. The design, credited to artist Jeff Miracola, reflects the card's function through a chaotic and frantic visual style that captures the sudden, disruptive nature of the game effect.

During its debut in the late 1990s, the card was recognized for its unique ability to enable complex infinite combos, particularly when paired with creatures that generate tokens upon entering play. While its strategic utility has fluctuated across different formats, it remains a notable example of early design experimentation regarding board states and creature-based interactions. The Eighth Edition version retains the original artistic vision while updating the card frame to the modern layout introduced during that era.
