Where it came from
Invasion Plans was originally released in the Planeshift expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2001, depicting the mechanical and tactical maneuvers of the Phyrexians during their invasion of Dominaria. This specific version was released as part of a Secret Lair Drop, a series of curated, limited-run cards that showcase unique artistic interpretations outside of the game’s standard aesthetic framework.
The art for this iteration was created by an illustrator commissioned to bring a distinct, stylized vision to the card, emphasizing the chaotic and grand-scale strategic nature of the Phyrexians. Within the Magic community, these Secret Lair versions are sought after for their departure from traditional card art, reflecting the game's ongoing commitment to exploring diverse artistic styles through specialized collaborative releases.
