Invigorating Surge

Invigorating Surge was introduced as part of the Core Set 2021 release for Magic: The Gathering. As a core set, the product was designed to serve as an accessible entry point for new players while providing functional, reliable tools for established formats. The card was conceptualized as a green instant-speed pump spell that facilitates the '+1/+1 counter' archetype prevalent in that year's set design, allowing players to bolster their creatures during combat or in response to removal.

The card features illustration by Wisnu Tan, who captured the essence of sudden magical empowerment through dynamic, flowing energy. The design was intended to balance utility with the high-variance, interactive nature of green-aligned playstyles. Upon its release, it became a staple within draft environments and casual formats, valued for its efficiency as a combat trick that scales in effectiveness as the game progresses.
