Ivora, Insatiable Heir

Ivora, Insatiable Heir was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Foundations Jumpstart set. This set was designed to serve as an accessible entry point for new players, featuring a curated selection of cards that showcase the fundamental mechanics and thematic flavor of the game's various color identities. The design team focused on creating intuitive, self-contained experiences that allow players to quickly build decks by combining themed packets, ensuring that even complex creatures like Ivora remain understandable within the broader context of the game's mechanics.

The card features artwork by the illustrator Lie Setiawan, whose contribution aims to capture the essence of a powerful, commanding figure within the game's multiversal narrative. In line with the artistic direction of modern Magic: The Gathering, the illustration emphasizes dynamic posing and intricate costume detail to establish Ivora as a focal point of the set's graveyard-reanimation gameplay style. Upon release, the card was received as a functional and flavorful addition to the set's goal of balancing approachable gameplay with the deep strategic depth expected by long-term collectors.
