The Jalum Tome was originally introduced in the Antiquities expansion in 1994, representing a deep dive into the lore of the Brothers' War. It depicts a legendary artifact from the library of the wizard Jalum, designed to reflect the flavor of scholarly research and the exchange of knowledge through its mechanical ability to discard cards in order to draw new ones.
This particular version appeared in the Seventh Edition core set, released in 2001. As the first core set to feature card illustrations across the entire collection, Seventh Edition aimed to modernize the game's visual identity.
