Where it came from
Jund Sojourners was released in 2009 as part of the Alara Reborn expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As the final set in the Shards of Alara block, Alara Reborn was unique in that every card in the set was multicolored, reflecting the merging of the five disparate shards of the plane of Alara. The card represents the Jund shard, a savage, volcanic world dominated by dragons and predatory life forms where survival of the fittest is the governing philosophy.
The artwork was created by illustrator Matt Cavotta, who served as both an artist and a member of the creative team for Wizards of the Coast.
