Justiciar's Portal

Justiciar's Portal was released as part of the Jumpstart 2022 expansion for Magic: The Gathering, a set designed to facilitate quick, accessible play by pairing two distinct theme packs into a complete deck. This card fits into the 'Lawful' themed deck, reflecting the set's focus on creating synergistic gameplay experiences without the complexity of traditional deck-building. It serves as a utility card, providing players with the ability to exile and return a creature to the battlefield, a mechanic rooted in the white color identity's penchant for protection and battlefield manipulation.

The artwork for Justiciar's Portal was created by artist Igor Kieryluk. As a digital illustrator with an extensive history in the Magic: The Gathering landscape, Kieryluk aimed to evoke the ethereal yet rigid structure of an Azorius-style gateway. The visual design emphasizes light and architectural geometry to represent the transition between planes or locations. Upon its release, the card was generally received as a functional, low-cost tool for players looking to trigger 'enter the battlefield' effects or protect key permanents from targeted removal in the fast-paced environment of Jumpstart.
