Where it came from
Kaito, Cunning Infiltrator was introduced in the Foundations set, designed to represent the character Kaito Shizuki within the broader Magic: The Gathering multiverse. As a planeswalker card, its mechanics are crafted to emphasize stealth and tactical advantage, reflecting Kaito's background as a cybernetic ninja from the plane of Kamigawa who operates in the shadows to achieve his objectives.
The visual design of the card leans into the modern, tech-infused aesthetic of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, capturing Kaito's sleek, agile appearance and his signature technological weaponry. This iteration of the character is intended to be a foundational piece for players interested in blue-black control and tempo archetypes, providing a versatile tool that remains consistent with the character's long-standing narrative role as an infiltrator and rogue operative.
