Where it came from
New Horizons was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Foundations set in 2024. This collection was designed to serve as a long-standing anchor for the game, featuring a mix of both iconic reprinted cards and new designs intended to introduce players to the core mechanics and flavor of the multiverse.
The card features an ethereal, expansive aesthetic characteristic of the set's broader art direction, which aims to evoke a sense of wonder and accessibility. By providing consistent mechanical utility, New Horizons exemplifies the design philosophy of Foundations: creating reliable, evergreen tools that feel at home in both beginner-friendly environments and more established play formats.
