Where it came from
Kindred Discovery was originally printed in the Commander 2017 set as an enchantment designed to reward tribal deck-building strategies. The card allows players to draw a card whenever a creature of a chosen type enters the battlefield or attacks, functioning as a powerful engine for decks focused on shared creature types. Its design emphasizes the synergy inherent in communal creature archetypes, turning the act of summoning allies into a consistent method of card advantage.
The 81s promo version was released as part of the Battle for Baldur's Gate promotion, featuring updated art that aligns with the aesthetic themes of the Dungeons & Dragons crossover. By providing a fresh visual treatment for a staple effect, this version became a sought-after collectible for players looking to customize their Commander decks. It is widely regarded as a significant card in the format due to its high impact on game state and its ability to maintain momentum in multiplayer environments.
