Knight of Cliffhaven

Knight of Cliffhaven was released in 2010 as part of the Rise of the Eldrazi set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set marked the conclusion of the Zendikar block and introduced the colorless, world-devouring Eldrazi titans as a major narrative force. The card represents a Kor soldier native to the plane of Zendikar, reflecting the set's thematic emphasis on the desperate defense of the world against the encroaching cosmic threat.

The card was illustrated by Mike Bierek, who sought to capture the high-altitude aesthetic of the Kor people, known for their proficiency with climbing gear and sky-hooks. Its design centers on the level-up mechanic, a signature feature of the Rise of the Eldrazi set that allows players to invest mana over several turns to transform a basic creature into a more powerful form. Within the game's competitive environment, the Knight was recognized as a solid utility creature in Limited formats, providing players with a flexible, early-game threat that scaled effectively into the late game.
