Kudzu

Designed by Richard Garfield, the card was conceptualized as a thematic representation of the invasive kudzu vine, intended to spread across the battlefield and disrupt an opponent's resources over time. As a staple of early green decks, it captured the chaotic, organic growth aesthetic that defined the game's initial expansion into fantasy gaming culture.

The Revised Edition printing, released in 1994, featured the distinct, muted aesthetic of the middle-era core sets, utilizing the original artwork by Dameon Willich. While the card is often remembered by players for its frustrating gameplay mechanics, the design is regarded as a quintessential example of early Magic's experimental nature.
