Lieutenant Commander Data

Lieutenant Commander Data, designated as card 1703 within the Star Trek trading card ecosystem, captures the essence of the android officer from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Produced to commemorate the character's journey toward humanity, these cards were released during the height of the franchise's popularity in the 1990s as part of various sets designed to chronicle the bridge crew. They were manufactured to satisfy the growing demand for episodic memorabilia that allowed fans to catalog the specific attributes and mission logs of key Starfleet personnel.

The design of such cards typically features a portrait of Brent Spiner in full character makeup, often framed by the distinct aesthetic cues of the TNG era. Illustrators and graphic designers focused on maintaining the clinical yet approachable visual identity of the character, balancing his artificial nature with his role as a Starfleet officer. Upon release, these cards were received as essential components for completionist collectors, serving as tangible artifacts that bridged the gap between the television broadcast and the viewer's private collection.
