Lifecrafter's Bestiary

Lifecrafter's Bestiary was originally introduced in the Aether Revolt set in 2017 before being reprinted in the Commander 2020 product line. As an artifact that allows players to scry and draw cards whenever they cast a creature spell, it was designed to provide card advantage in green-aligned decks. The card captures the essence of the Kaladesh setting, a plane defined by its emphasis on inventive craftsmanship and artifact-based technology, bridging the gap between nature and mechanical artifice.

The artwork for this version was rendered by the artist Izzy, who is well known for a distinctively painterly style that emphasizes light and texture. In this piece, Izzy focused on the visual motif of a scholarly tome integrated with the intricate, golden filigree characteristic of the Kaladesh aesthetic.
