Where it came from
The 'Lifetime' Pass Holder card was released in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering set Unfinity, a silver-bordered expansion designed for casual, humor-focused play. As part of an 'Un-set'—a series of products that prioritize wacky mechanics and meta-commentary over standard competitive rules—this card functions as a parody of institutional corporate perks, leaning into the set’s carnival and science fiction aesthetic.
The card was illustrated by Titus Lunter, who captured the whimsical yet bureaucratic essence of the item. It is designed as an artifact that allows a player to bypass the usual costs of entry, fitting perfectly into the top-down design philosophy of Unfinity, which frequently features cards that break the game’s standard interaction patterns for comedic effect.
