Where it came from
The 'Lifetime' Pass Holder was released in 2022 as part of Unfinity, the fourth Un-set produced by Wizards of the Coast. Designed for the game Magic: The Gathering, this expansion was built around a science fiction carnival theme, blending the game's traditional mechanics with tongue-in-cheek humor and silver-bordered card tropes that exist outside the standard tournament rules. This specific card represents the lighthearted, meta-narrative storytelling the set is known for, emphasizing the eccentric environment of the 'Myra the Magnificent's Intergalactic Astrotorium of Fun.'
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Volkan Baga, who utilized a clean, illustrative style to evoke the aesthetic of futuristic ticket-taking and theme park memorabilia. The design serves as an artifact card, visually grounding the player in the set's carnival setting. Upon release, the set was noted for its departure from traditional Magic lore, with players largely receiving the card as a whimsical collector's piece that highlights the creative freedom designers enjoy when working within the Un-set framework.
