Provenance

Where it came from

Lightning Talons was released in 2018 as part of the Battlebond set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was uniquely designed for the Two-Headed Giant format, emphasizing cooperative play and partner mechanics. The card acts as an Aura enchantment that buffs a creature with both increased power and the first strike ability, reinforcing the aggressive, team-oriented battlefield dynamics intended by the developers.

The card features artwork by Anna Steinbauer, who is known for her vibrant and detailed contributions to the game. Her design for Lightning Talons aims to capture the kinetic energy of a swift, magical strike, utilizing sharp lines and a color palette that evokes the swiftness of lightning. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional tool for limited formats, praised by players for its efficiency in turning smaller creatures into immediate, high-impact threats.
