Where it came from
Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero was released in February 2000 as part of the Nemesis expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set focused on the narrative of the Rath cycle, depicting the rebellion of the Kor people against the Phyrexian occupation of their plane. As the leader of these rebels, the card was designed to mechanically reflect her role as a tactician capable of searching the deck for other rebel fighters, a unique ability that redefined the competitive landscape of the era.
The artwork was commissioned from illustrator rk post, known for his distinctively gritty and ethereal style that defined much of the aesthetic during the late 90s and early 2000s.
