Lingering Tormentor

Lingering Tormentor was released in 2008 as part of the Eventide set, the second expansion in the Shadowmoor block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to explore the concept of hybrid mana and the aesthetic of a world transitioning into eternal night, following the gloomy, folklore-inspired themes established in its predecessor. As a black-aligned creature, it utilizes the wither ability, a mechanical keyword introduced in this block that allows creatures to place -1/-1 counters on opponents' creatures, emphasizing the set's focus on decay and attrition.
