Provenance

Where it came from

The Lizard token was released in 2016 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion Conspiracy: Take the Crown. This set was designed to be played in a draft format with a focus on multiplayer politics and hidden agendas, and tokens were included to represent the various creatures summoned or created by cards within the set.

The artwork for this specific token reflects the aesthetic direction of the Conspiracy series, which leaned into themes of regal artifice and urban intrigue. While tokens in Magic: The Gathering are often utilitarian, the illustrations serve to ground the game's mechanics in the visual identity of the plane of Fiora, utilizing a style consistent with the game’s broader fantasy artistic standards.
