Provenance

Where it came from

Lotus Bloom was originally introduced in the 2006 Time Spiral set as a reimagined tribute to the Black Lotus, one of the most iconic and powerful cards in the history of Magic: The Gathering. The design by Aaron Forsythe and the development team sought to recapture the spirit of the original card's explosive mana acceleration while balancing it for modern play through the use of the suspend mechanic, requiring a three-turn wait before it could be sacrificed for mana.

The Time Spiral Remastered version, featuring the artwork by Christopher Rush from the original set, was released in 2021 as part of a curated experience designed to showcase the most significant cards from the Time Spiral block. This specific release was well-received by the player base for its inclusion of the classic, nostalgic aesthetic while providing a bridge for newer players to engage with the mechanics and history of older, high-powered artifacts.
