Provenance

Where it came from

Lovestruck Beast was released in 2019 as part of the Throne of Eldraine set for Magic: The Gathering. Drawing inspiration from European folklore and fairy tales, the set aimed to blend high fantasy with classic narrative tropes. The card functions as a 'split' creature adventure, reflecting the dual nature of its design—a formidable creature that remains dormant until its 'Heart's Desire' quest is fulfilled.

The artwork was illustrated by Igor Kieryluk, who focused on capturing a gothic, romanticized depiction of the beast. The card gained significant popularity among competitive players due to its efficiency as a low-cost, high-power threat in aggressive deck archetypes. It remains a notable example of modern creature design within the game's evolving mechanics.
